If the breakfast had been good, I would have given 5 stars. I assume that 9:15 must have been too late to get a decent breakfast. No-one asked us if we would like more hot water, indeed, no-one approached us at all. We had to look round to find another, fuller one on another table. The hot water for the tea was provided in flasks on the tables, and the flask on our table was almost empty. The baked beans were cold, and the only bread we could find was thick sliced bread which I think was meant to be toasted, as it was rather dry. Unfortunately, the bacon was very dried up ,and looked like it had been there for some time. We were informed that breakfast was between 7 and 10am, and arrived in the dining room at 9:15am. We did not mind, as we were content to have a leisurely meal and could see that the restaurant was very busy. The staff were very pleasant and helpful but the service was very slow. Nearby is a bus stop which enables easy access to the city centre which is only about 3 miles away. The hotel is immaculately maintained and our room was spotless and bed large and very comfortable. Would I return, I'd be more inclined to look else where. We stayed at this hotel for one night. Sort the fly problem, invest in some outdoor heaters for your smoking guests. The room we used in the conference centre looked like it desperately needed refurbishing, but I guess it did the job. In both the restaurant and the bar area there was little black flies everywhere. Breakfast:- the breakfast area was messy, bread area needed cleaning as there was bits everywhere. The room was clean, nice bathroom, comfy bed, ok selection of tv channels, to be honest the room reminded me of a premier inn except the tv is on the wall, and some forest wallpaper. It's around £4 for a pint and £5 plus pound for a whisky, for the soft drinkers £2.20 for a coke. I found there food very over priced, well there bar food, £10 for a bowl of pasta with pesto and cheese, it was nice but not £10 nice. Myself and husband recently had an over night stay here followed by a next day function in the conference centre. Kind Regards, Lasse Högberg General Manager I will you the very best and compliments of the season. Again please accept my apologies if our eco approach did not meet with your expectations. This allows all guests to be comfortable without the need to have the extreme variances that are required with Air Conditioning. We do not operate Air Conditioning in the rooms we have a sophisticated air cooling system in line with our eco credentials whereby the temperature in each room is set to an ambient setting and l the variance in temperature range is totally dependant on the outside air temperature. The Orchard Hotel & Restaurant: Excellent - See 2,012 traveler reviews, 562 candid photos, and great deals for The Orchard Hotel & Restaurant at Tripadvisor. ![]() There are privacy curtains in the bedrooms which allow the light into the rooms without the need to draw the heavy full curtains, again please accept my apologies that they did not meet your requirements The hotel is built to the highest environmental standards and has achieved a BREAM excellent rating for this. i am so sorry that the there was not enough parking when you arrived. Clearly we have failed to meet your expectations and for this i truly apologise. The best part about this hotel was the breakfast, which was superb.ĭear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your stay with us/. Aside from those issues, the room was clean, comfortable and the bathroom was good. When the noise subdued enough to finally get to sleep I found the room uncomfortably warm and no effective way to reduce the temperature - very disappointing. There was no way to set the temperature and have the system reach this temperature. After approx 30 mins it had reduced the temperature to 23C but then shut itself off. When we arrived in the room the wall thermostat said the temperature was 24C, I tried to set this down to 21C and the air conditioning seemed to kick into gear, but was almost completely ineffectual. There was no effective control of the room temperature. Secondly was the outlook - for a newly built hotel why was my room looking directly into what appeared to be a bar area - if I wanted any sort of privacy I had to completely shut the curtains, so any concept of letting natural light into the room was gone. There is absolutely no sound insulation, the following morning I could literally hear the person next door pass wind. ![]() I was kept awake to 2am with the TV from the next room and they didn't have it abnormally loud. The interior of the hotel is done to good standard and very contemporary, but there was some significant problems with the room. ![]() I seems that if there is an event on in the conference centre that its simply tough luck to the hotel guests. ![]() I had booked into the hotel and arrived around 9pm. Given this is a De Vere I was expecting great things, and they certainly weren't delivered.
